The ferry from Craignuire back to Oban

Packed up and were out by the appointed time. We seemed to have been on Mull a long time but the week seemed to have flown by. Mull is an enthralling place and Iona simply magical. I’m sure both are places we’d like to go back to but there are so many other Scottish islands we’d like to visit or even return too. We could spend every holiday for the rest of our lives and not see them all. I understand there are 94 inhabited off shore islands to visit - we’ve been to just 7.

Called in at Duart Castle before catching the ferry. Impressive building in a prominent position. Enjoyed a coffee and scone in the tearoom.

Crossing was smooth with lovely views despite the grey and cloud. The light was soft and the misitness added a degree of mystery and romance to the journey. The drive back to Edinburgh was smooth and enjoyable too passing through wonderful scenery - no longer on single track roads with passing places (but much more traffic). We’re in Edinburgh for a couple of days, driving south on Monday.

The extras are of Duart Castle, the Lismore Light and the Oban harbour front
