Embrace

I felt this perfect rainbow was embracing our spot when I saw this out of the bedroom window this morning!

I managed to get a couple of loads of washing through and dried on the line later in the morning when the weather brightened, but the rain has been lurking in the wings all day. It chucked it down this evening when we were listening to a talk at the Orkney Science Festival but fortunately it passed through quite quickly.

The talk was The Grimond Lecture and was entitled 'What do we do with the land?'. It highlighted the need for joined up thinking by the powers that be when looking at how we can manage the magnificent land resource we have, instead of the piecemeal and inadequate legislation now in place. How we plan new energy resources that are sustainable and acceptable. How we must be driven by the concept of stewardship rather than exploitation and economics if we want to leave future generations anything worthwhile. How we can achieve this through dialogue, empowerment and reason.

It was all rather wonderful but the cynic in me wonders just which government is ever going to be driven by altruism and spurn that ever powerful pull of money ...
