Harvest

We stayed overnight with friends north of Alicante. I woke early to catch sunrise, which I knew was going to be pathetic and certainly was not good. But having chosen to wake for dawn I was certainly going to see it. Interesting clouds though!

After a leisurely breakfast the four of us set off for a walk through the vineyards to see the harvesting in full swing. Teams of pickers (all bunches of grapes are hand cut) tip all the grapes into a small trailer which are then trundled off to the nearby Bodega for processing. A relentless tide of grapes. We ate many along the way - delicious and sweet (the white ones) to be transformed into Muscadet. This happy chappy was part of the picking team and the extra shows the scramble to get in to the processing plant.

In the village many chug-chugs and other trailers were bringing in the grapes. It's a hard and laborious process. So n the vineyard will be trimmed, vines pruned and everything set for a new season.
Always savour your glass of wine as many hours of hard work have gone into its creation.

Now back at our villa with no blip buddies for entertainment - it is very quiet.
