La Vie à Quatre Roues! Jour 11

Château de Chenonceau, Loire Valley (plus first two extras)

A misty start gave way to an overcast but warm day, and a short hop down the road took us to the fairytale Château de Chenonceau. We were there as the doors opened so enjoyed exploring the stunning Château and gardens before the whole world and his wife arrived. Ever since having a jigsaw puzzle of here, Chenonceau has been on my dream to-do list, and I wasn’t disappointed...

After picking up bread in the village, we trundled our way back to the Loire river and to Amboise where we set up camp for the next two nights. Once again we were lucky enough to have a riverside pitch, with wonderful views across to the Château (third extra) and town, which we later explored on foot.

Amboise is only a small town but the square in front of the Château was bustling with pavement cafes, serving both two and four-legged customers (fourth extra, spotted while I was sipping another local sparkling Vouvray. Believe it or not, the local fizz is the same price, if not cheaper, than a cup of coffee!)
