Grumbeersupp un Quetschekuche

Last week I posted a photo of a piece of plum cake and mentioned that we in the Palatinate like to eat plum cake with potato soup.

Today I had lunch with a friend in Kaiserslautern's oldest (still-existing) half-timbered house, where since 1896 the restaurant "Spinnrädl" (Spinning Wheel) welcomes guests from far and wide.

Today the lunch special was Grumbeersupp un Quetschekuche - as you may have guessed by now: potato soup and plum cake.
You should give it a try. Tastes delicious together.

If you ever make it to Kaiserslautern, don't miss the Spinnrädl. Last week I had a typical (Palatinate) work lunch with guests from NRW (North-Rhine Westphalia) at the Spinnrädl and they loved it.

Peter, Celia and Larry - if you make it to Kaiserslautern again for another blipmeet - this time I know where to take you.
