After the storm

Such an exciting end to yesterday - four of us, full of wine and hilarity, sat out on the terrasse of the restaurant as the sky was torn apart by lightning andthe thunder crashes came closer and louder and the rain poured down in torrents. Eventually we were driven in by a subsidiary torrent that made its way onto our table ...

But this morning it was all gone, except for some enormous puddles in the beach car park along the road. This is our hotel’s bit of beach after breakfast, as the last of the clouds left the mountains and the wind - now, apparently, gusting to 45mph - began to rustle in the palm trees.

And now I’m just back from a late afternoon swim in the sea - very bouncy, very salty, very agreeable. Bit scary, though - that wind is along the shore and took us with it ...

But we’re back.
