Life Savors

Locust-Borer.....

....in its striped fur coat, on the Golden Rod.

The sun came out briefly today and I was out of the house in a flash.  I drove up to Hughes Hollow and was surprised to see lots of cars in the parking lot.  When I noticed a fellow in camouflage get of his car, and grab his hunting bow,  I realized that hunting season had started and it wasn't a place for me to be photographing insects.

I drove on to Black Hills by way of the Montgomery County Agricultural Reserve.  The reserve is 93,000 acres that have been designated for farm use only and cannot be developed. I stopped the car and quickly grabbed a shot of one of the farms for my black and white journal.  On the way, I passed a meadow that is designated as a Monarch Waystation.  The wildflowers were exquisite and covered in insects and butterflies.
