Smokey 2145 hr (Saturday 22nd September 2018)

Edit: In the evening, Smokey joined me in the living room to continue his sleep trials, and didn't notice me getting a couple of flashed shots of him, so I have changed the blip image and put this afternoon's shot of a slightly fuzzy Smokey into Extras.

Original description:
An autofocus fail, I'm afraid, and if I'd taken any other shots I'd have used something else instead, but this makes up a trio of consecutive Smokey pictures. It was another indoor day for both of us, and this was taken through the front door glass at 1543 hr, looking into the porch from the kitchen.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Grateful Dead - That's It For The Other One (Cryptical Envelopment / Quadlibet For Tender Feet / The Faster We Go The Rounder We Get / We Leave The Castle (1971 Mix) (recorded September-December 1967 mixed with live recordings from October 1967 - March 1968)
I'm very familiar with the original version of this album which got played all the time in 1968 by my friends and me, and have bought CD versions three times over the decades.
Apparently most of the CD editions use a milder 1971 mix, shorn of the psychedelia of the original, but it turns out that my copies were all of the 1968 mix, the one I knew from the time, apart from the brand new 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition which presents both mixes side by side. This release enabled me to hear the 1971 remixes made by band member Phil Lesh for the first time.
On this opening track the previously stereo-panned drums have been mixed to stay still but are spread across the stereo image in a more contemporary way.
It remains one of my most highly enjoyed albums in either version.
