Farmers' friend

A couple or three mysteries since we arrived home:

1) How was the French window door wide open yesterday when no-one had opened or unlocked it?
2) When exactly did the big car acquire a puncture and how come I didn't notice when driving (eek!)?
3) how come our flower pots on the patio fell over this morning after all the big winds, and what exactly had left footprints over the flower beds?

One mystery solved. Number 3's answer became apparent when I opened the back door to take Poppydog for her walk and she scattered a number of vagrant sheep. Our back fence (due to be replaced last March and still not done) had finally given up its rotten ghost and was lying flat, an open invitation to our neighbour's nosy sheep. My genuine feeling was of relief; I really was beginning to feel we were being targeted!

After a curious round robin of phone calls, which included Shrewsbury Sainsbury's via Greece, the local farmer turned up really promptly, his quad bike prepped with binder twine which he termed the Farmers' Friend. This heavy fence is now 'supported' by an Escalonia bush and a rather nice little tree. I'm hoping the winds stay away.
