Common Redshank Stretching ...

... along one of the salt pans south of Trapani in western Sicily. We birded this area in the morning, and then drove the long winding road up to Erice, a medieval town at 750 meters (2460 feet). We had our picnic lunch near the top, and then took a long walk through the narrow streets.  The town was less picturesque than I might have hoped, but it was nonetheless a worthwhile outing to mark the last full day of our tour.
