Typhoon Mangkhut damage

We got home very late last night. I’ll get around to filling in the Beijing trip soon ...

We didn’t see much of the damage in the dark as we arrived in DB, but this morning, it was sad to see how much damage there still is from the typhoon, a week on.

This was by friend Pam’s house. And because it’s been left unattended, the roots have not received water (for a whole week) the tree has died. Such a shame.

There is a village in Discovery Bay that suffered a lot of damage and a lot of friends have been helping them with basic needs. The damage to their homes will take a while to repair but thankfully it will happen! We feel so removed from it as we were away.

Later in the evening had a long chat with Ben who might be heading home soon. More devestating news!!! He didn’t pass two modules, and that means he might not be able to continue there. He’s been in to talk this through, so we’re just waiting. Thankfully he does have options and he is still young, but obviously disappointed in himself.

Just processing all of this right now.
