A ho ho ho of Father Christmases

Today has been planned for some time as our twice annual trip to IKEA, Dobbies garden centre, and the dump. Katharine and Jack offered transport in exchange for refreshments along the route.

In IKEA we stocked up on cushion covers, book ends, biscuits and dill sauce. We also bought a lampshade. In Dobbies our purchases were bulbs, compost, rooter, and a maximum/minimum thermometer. We deposited a dead computer monitor at the dump.

The garden centre displays revealed a confusion of seasons with Christmas decorations mixed in with autumn stock. I found this huge collection of Father Christmases somewhat overwhelming.

Before and after the trip I slotted in some more work on my journal article. If I can manage to find some more time on it between other more pressing duties over the next few days, there's a good chance that it will soon be ready to submit.

I didn't participate in the Ada Lovelace Day activities on campus today because I don't officially work on Tuesdays. Instead I published a blog post on this theme.

Exercise today: small amount of walking (6,083 steps).
