Rush

Woke to a dry morning (although still cloudy) and, after a large breakfast of whisky cream porridge and a Scottish fry-up, packed up and headed south. The sun was due to come out later so we decided to delay the planned walk as long as possible and drove down to Dunkeld for a pootle first. Enjoyed exploring the historical trail and marvelling at the age and condition of the cathedral.
Over to The Hermitage and got the boots on before exploring the woodland walk along the riverbank. In Dunkeld it had been so broad and calm but there were lots more rocks here and all the rain from yesterday meant it was swollen and rushing along. When we arrived at Ossian’s Hall we got an amazing view of the waterfall and incredibly narrow passage that it all had to roar through (extra).
The walk was shorter than we’d thought but the trees were gorgeous - combination of tall pines and others with brightly coloured leaves. We finally had the sun break through as we got back to the car park, so we had some coffee and enjoyed the light on the leaves and water.
Drove cross country to Scone Palace (extra) but decided we didn’t have time to go into the grounds etc and do them justice so just had a look from the car park before off to late lunch in Loch Earn. Tiny restaurant but delicious food...
Home briefly before heading out to see Nigella Lawson at the Queen’s Hall. She was in conversation for most of the time, then took questions from the audience. Some nice moments (how she likes her porridge - made with water then cream and golden syrup added to serve) but overall thought she was very inarticulate...it showed that this was the first night of the tour. She needs to polish some anecdotes and be ready to say something about local ingredients before she hits the next part of the country!
