More mixed weather

Today we set off for West Mainland to do a spot of birdwatching whilst there was an RSPB Ranger available to do the hard work for us. On the way we took a brisk lochside walk by the Ring of Brodgar; a little less windy than yesterday but still occasional sharp showers. And to think of the bright sunshine we'd blithely left behind!

Not many birds to see, species wise, but a lovely 40+ flock of Curlew preening close to the hide, some Golden Plover in the far distance (the Ranger said) and, best of all, a couple of Snipe hunkering down in the short stuff nearby. Beautiful camouflage and we would never have noticed had the Ranger not pointed them out, so he did a useful job :-)

Our little sewing group here tonight with two more nearly completed quillows. They are absolutely lovely, so different to each other, and its just such a pleasure to sit and create with others.
