Mono Monday Alien

Today proved to be a challenge in more ways than one!! I woke up fairly positive, remembering all that I have learned over the weekend and ready to face the week.  I had a plan in place to help with the children's constant morning bickering which last week really got to me, and I got them to school well and headed to work.

Some of you may remember that I have recently encountered some difficulties with a colleague and that we both discussed the atmosphere when I brought it up in a meeting because it was really getting to me.  Well, I thought everything was fine and today she was back to her normal tricks. The little comments that have a hidden intention and the trying to pick things that I had done wrong (that I hadn't).

Just before lunch she said to me that I needed to speed up because some of the work in my pile had been there for a while.  She said that in front of my colleagues. I responded saying that I am working as quickly as I can and that I am only human. I think she had put to the back of her mind that I was the only assistant in on Friday when we were up to our eyes.  At 12pm I walked out for my lunch break (which I am sure she probably didn't like very much) and when I came back I worked until I left at 2.30 and I left without saying goodbye. Not because I want to rise to her bait but because I just felt really fed up.  I am in the role that I am because I wanted to go back to work.  I like my job and I think I am pretty good at it.  So why are there people that try to make things difficult for no reason?

I admit to have letting this whole thing bother me more than I wanted it to but I am unsure how to deal with it. Thoughts would be appreciated!!

Anyway, after work I did the usual running around with the children but had an hour with my friend playing some music which went really well.  The hour goes far too quickly! Today I went to her house instead of her coming to mine, and with blip in mind I asked her son if he had any toy aliens but he said he didn't - he was in the process of putting halloween decorations up however!

Off home and I cooked dinner and watched the final day of mindfulness seminars which were fabulous and have lots of suggested reading material to take me forward.

Still a little flummoxed regarding today's theme I resigned to doing my chores - washing, preparing lunch boxes etc and then my son started talking to me about halloween and I remembered he had a mask from last year in his wardrobe that would perfect.

If you look closely you will see me reflecting in the alien's eyes! I played with the image a little so it is a bit more scary (I think!)

So today's challenges have been one of fun, with my alien image, and one of life.
