'Lest we forget..'

Buildings across the country have 'falls' of poppies to mark the 100th anniversary of the First World War.  This fall of hand-knitted/crocheted/stitched poppies cascades down the Parish Church in Otley and over the church walls.  It has been a huge community effort.

Tony was back in the driving seat for the first time today during his recovery from surgery three weeks ago.  We decided to mark the occasion by a trip out for lunch at Betty's at Harlow Carr.  It was heaving!  As Tony tried to find a parking space, I jumped out to join the cafe queue, which was out of the door.  By the time Tony arrived, having discovered a third parking field we never knew existed,  I had moved about  a dozen paces.  Thankfully, large groups moved in to be seated and we were soon enjoying our lunch.

Afterwards we stopped off at the Blue Barn to pick up birdfood before shopping at the supermarket in Otley.  Tony set off with the trolley whilst I ducked out in to the town centre to blip the poppies.

Back home it was down to the allotment to dig up potatoes and carrots and to start dinner before heading out for a very dark hobble!
