A dahlia does not have stamen ...

Stamen is the theme of Tiny Tuesday today and so I looked at last week's bouquet and wondered where to find some stamens. Only the lilies, the freesia and the dahlia seemed candidates , the rest of the flowers do not show their reproductive organs. I then focused on the dahlia, because it's also pink for Pinktober. My left foot is still very painful (found out from the podotherapist today it's Posterior Tibial Tendonitis and it will take a while to heal, snif), so I can't stand long and going up and down the stairs to the make-shift photo studio was not an option either. Handheld from a sitting position in the rather low light we're having today I got this shot and was quite happy with it. Until I found out that dahlias do not have stamens ... What we're seeing here are the so-named disk flowers with stigmas with pollen :-) Never mind, I've learned something new and if you read up until now you may have learned something new too :-)

There's a bit of pink for Pinktober, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. If you want, please follow this link  and click on the pink button for free mammograms for those who can't afford them otherwise.

With thanks to WalkingWombat for starting the TT challenge and hosting TinyTuesday this whole month.
And thank you very much for the scared comments, stars and even a heart for yesterday's toothy monster !
