What a lovely day:-

to be on the Level

I think I might have my very own waterwheel.  The description on the 1870 25inch map simply described it as "Lead Mine" and a few dozen yards down stream as "Level"

For those who have enjoyed the experience of walking around the Lady Isabella waterwheel at Laxey, this ruin will be instantly recogniseable.  Clearly it is the housing for a wheel.  The power was taken off uphill to drive a water pump for the mine shaft. The entry to the shaft is still visible.

I was also able to walk along the water channel  that provided the energy. Having said that however, there has been a lot of ground movement and so the channel is very difficult to follow.

As to the "Level" which would have been a horizontal tunnel in to the valley side - there is no sign whatsoever...
