Silent Light

This installation is a long tunnel of lights blocking off the end of George Street to traffic. I took this just before we went into Cafe Andaluz for an early bird Tapas meal.

We had mosied along George Street in the morning taking in Anthropologie - dangerous and Laura Ashley - lots of bargains. In need of coffee we found the Tapas bar and were impressed enough to book for evening.

We wandered through this tunnel of light in the daytime not quite understanding what it was meant to be but it looked most impressive after dark. When we came out from dinner the lights were all changing and flashing with lots of people inside dancing and singing. Everyone has to purchase headphones to listen to the music hence the Silent Light. With the crowd singing away like frenzied Karaoke singers it was anything but! A bit strange when you can't hear the music.
There were projected images on the wall of the building opposite too which were good to watch.
They seem to be really pushing the boat out with 'Edinburgh Christmas'.

Returning to the hotel we decided to try the gin of the month. Can't tell you what it was called as it was unpronounceable but sitting having tea in Valvona and Crolla (Jenners) earlier in the afternoon they definitely had it on their shelves. (Begins with a C!)

Best thing spotted today was an edition of the Gruffalo in Scots! It was hilarious - no I didn't buy it!

(One sour note; I woke up with my eyes gummed up this morning having had some problems with them last night so I am now bathing them with boiled salt water on advice from the pharmacist)
