Polar Plunge

We yax-traxed under blue sunlit skies on the frozen upper ridge of the hemlock forest above Quarry Rock.

Imagine our surprise glimpsing a half-naked man at river’s edge after our descent. We spotted 8 members of the Chagrin River Polar Plunge crew warming up after their weekly dip. The leader was in the water for 7 minutes! A woman in the group said she’s been doing it for 8 years. I simply cannot fathom this. There were 5 foot icicles hanging from the cliff above and chunks of ice under these cascades to where they swam . Shallow parts of the river were frozen solid.
