Honolulu Marathon

Started 5 AM at Aloha Tower, 26.2 miles later, finished in Kapiolani Park.  Winner was Titus Ekiru in 2:09:01, with a 4:56 pace.   First wheelchair was Masazumi Soejima in 1:39:12, a 3:47 pace.   I got down to the 17 mile mark corner about 6:15AM and the frontrunners came through about 4 minutes later.  Stayed for about 5 hours of steady clapping support.   No use to take the big camera (but I did).   The rain held off, but the winds were strong, a hindrance going out, but a help going back.
Took a friend out to dinner and coming home just before 10PM, saw the last entrant at the second Diamond Head lookout slowly making his way to the finish.   A long and grueling day for him.

Update:   The last finisher was Mr. S. Ito, 88 years old from Japan, who finished in just under 18 hours!!
