Winter heliotrope

Winter heliotrope (Petasites fragrans). This was originally introduced from Mediterranean North Africa as a garden plant in 1806. The flowers emerge first usually around Christmas and the leaves follow a few weeks later. The flowers have a vanilla like fragrance.
It is very invasive and spreads by underground stems.

It seems to me to be early this year as many leaves are already through.
