Darkest Day

First thing we did when we got back from Portugal was put the lights on our outside tree, our bit to cheer up the darkness. It's a yew, planted by a bird many years ago, that we now need to keep trimming.

The car in the drive was insured for both of us for the whole time we're back, what a hero Gill is.

The star top left courtesy of the petrol station across the road. It was one aspect of our house that I never appreciated until the day we brought a small boy back from rural Brazil, and he stood on the settee, looking out, totally thrilled that there was a petrol station "right in front of our house!!!"

Advent reading from the old testament prophet, Zephaniah; 3:15 says:

The king of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst;
    you shall fear disaster no more.

When we are frightened, our generosity is blocked, we hesitate to love, but with the King in our midst, renewing us with his love, we can have the courage to keep on reaching out...
