History says don't hope
On this side of the grave.

One of my friends posted this on Facebook on New Year's Day and wrote, "it catches the mood of the time - or at least what a lot of us feel..." 

Couldn't agree more. 

The lady who posted it was my A-Level English Literature teacher... didn't tell her that I actually hated Seamus Heaney at school! I appreciate him much more now.
