The Loookout

My brother Peter and his partner Eline , who live in Brussels, have been at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay.

They flew home late this afternoon but that at least gave Cathleen and I the opportunity to drive through this morning to take them and Cailean to lunch before we dropped them at the airport.

At Cailean’s suggestion we had managed to book a table at “The Lookout” which is a new venue , sitting on the very edge of Calton Hill and run by the same team as operate the Gardener’s Cottage between London Road and Regent Terrace, which I blipped last year.

The views and the food were very good, as of course was the company. It was also very busy and this picture also shows how buzzing Calton Hill itself was early this afternoon in fantastic, clear, cold weather.

My extra pictures are of the restaurant from the outside, and the view from our lunch table - which could not be bettered.

I suspect it will rapidly become a most visit spot for tourists and residents alike, particularly on a day like today.
