Memorial to Midge

Long ago, Hill Top House was built for the landed gentry of Kendal. They developed the shoe factory and built the Fisher Tarn Reservoir for the people of Kendal, including rights to water for the Hill Top estate which we now benefit from.
They were indulgent enough to keep racehorses and their favourite apparently was Midge. He was housed in our barn and exercised in the valley bottom.
So cherished was he that on his death a memorial tower was built for him with an inscription in Latin. The new residents of Hill Top when it was converted to apartments decided to restore Midge’s Memorial and here it now stands anew.
Unfortunately my Latin is not up to translating it - I wonder if anyone can help?
