Bowood 2019 #1 (Friday 4th January 2019)

As promised I did get out on Friday afternoon and did the Bowood footpath from Mile Elm up to Bowood Lake. Although the sky was mostly cloudless the setting sun was behind a cloud so there was little colour or light. I saw a number of red kites on the walk there and back, culminating in a group of seven that flew over the lake near the Palladian bridge, and a number of golden pheasants, great crested grebes, ducks and coots. I didn't see any swans, geese or herons, though I could hear the Canada geese honking further up the lake.
The sun was behind me for this blip which has caught what colour there was. The lake to the right of the blip was mostly frozen (see Extra) and by the time I'd completed the forty minute walk back to the car it was complely dark.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Saint Etienne - Sweet Arcadia (2017)
A tribute to suburbia from St Etienne's album Home Counties, this track is a highpoint and features the sublimely languid speaking voice of Sarah Cracknell, some bucolic bird song, a train leaving Fenchurch St station and the hypnotic flute playing of James Arben and organ of Gerard Johnson.
