Fringe benefits included finding wine, espresso martini (who knew there was such a thing?) and chocolate cake, complete with gold candles, in the Edinburgh flat when we arrived; an excuse to come over for a visit. And then there was dinner in my favourite Chinese restaurant, the Cool Jade, walking there and back on a chilly, still evening.

Now: do I need anything else to eat? Drink? Or shall I merely stagger off to bed?
