Local Transport Meeting

A meeting about Rural Transport in Thurgoland village hall yesterday afternoon which was very well attended, despite our pessimism at this stage of setting up that few people would attend.  We were joined by people from other local villages in the district and one of our local councillors to hear what the small working party had researched and about how they were trying to move things forward.  (A real struggle given the finances available to local government.). Among other things, it brought home to me the difficulties faced by older people and those who are ill and need to access the local hospitals.  The meeting was very well attended and we needed to put out more chairs as people arrived.  I did take photos with people (for our newsletter) but as I didn’t get permissions I’ve decided not to use them here.
