Above And Beyond...

The English Woman

We headed to Plettenberg Lagoon (South Africa) an hour early for the low tide at 1pm, to enjoy a good couple of hours wading the shallow water and walking the beach which separates it from the sea. There were loads of local fishermen and clam hunters.

Walking towards us was an elderly lady finely dressed with a smart blue hat, a walking stick and a small brown sausage dog. As a couple of locals walked near her her dog set off at them and barked, causing them to jump and all of us to laugh. Approaching her I grabbed the blifoto and we stopped to talk to her for a good while.

She's lived in South Africa for thirty years, having emigrated from the beautiful Devon town of Newton Abbot. The last twenty years her home has bordered the lagoon. She looked almost identical to my grandmother (dads side) and if she'd spoke with a London accent it could be!

Photo processed in Agfa Precisa 100 film preset.

Afterwards we went to the local supermarket and bought fresh Hake (as suggested by NickyR) as we so enjoyed our fish meal out last night we are eating fish in tonight.
