Eucharistic chapel

The decorative elements on the tabernacle (which means 'dwelling place') represent the wheat and grapes that become our offering of bread and wine in Holy Communion.

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
for through your goodness we have received
the bread we offer you, fruit of the earth and work of human hands,
and the wine we offer you, fruit of the vine and work of human hands.
They will become for us the bread of life and our spiritual drink.

Extras:
1. Above the tabernacle is a flock of doves that represent the Holy Spirit descending on Jesus like a dove at his baptism in the Jordan River.
2. The sanctuary lamp, which indicates the presence of the Reserved Sacrament in the tabernacle; from there, it is brought to the sick, the hospitalized, and the homebound who cannot be present at mass. It is always a shock on the day in Holy Week when we see the doors of the tabernacle flung open to reveal an empty interior.
3. A detail from the stained-glass window in the chapel.

I came here to the chapel today to pray after confession.
A two-sacrament day!
