Upstaged by the Mandarin
Having picked up Dizzychick we headed to the River Stour to hopefully capture the kingfisher & otters seen there daily. Fellow photographers showed us pictures of the otters we had just missed but that's as much as we saw of them. The kingfisher flew in, rested for no longer than a minute; then off to a nearby tree to fish and finally flew away.
With one out of two seen it was time to move on so a diversion on the way home took us to Poole Park. With a lack of sightings at our local pond recently it was lovely to see this solitary male mandarin duck close up when he swam from beneath the overhanging trees to walk amongst us.
