End of a Dinner and an Era

I went to a formal dinner this evening.  It was the annual get together of the pilots of an air experience flight and their wives (if they wanted to be there).  There were only 40-odd at the function but it was very friendly and enjoyable. I left by 2230 as I had Grandad duties the next day, and they are not to be undertaken with a hangover or insufficient sleep.

The RAF was 100 years old in 2018; the Army and the RN can sneer (and they sometimes do :-)), but that's a fair old milestone for the "junior service".

The extra photo is of my Mess Kit: I haven't worn it for a few years but it still fits.  I will probably wear it only a couple of times more . . .
