Journey

A prompt start from the hotel so that we could have another (as it happened, fruitless) search for the Gyr Falcon. We will just have to return and try again another time. Instead, the local flock of Snow Bunting charmed us with their chirps, the Harlequin Duck troupe were in their usual spot and the endless snowscape rolled past en route to Akureyri Airport.

I love small local airports (plane blip); so easy to negotiate and real people to check you in rather than technology. The 35 minute flight got us to Reykjavik (blipped the cathedral from a distance), a transfer to Keflavik and thence to Heathrow. We landed on time and were on our way by 8:30pm. Now on the motorway home - it's all a bit surreal!

We have had the most wonderful break and the pleasurable company of 6 very interesting people. This was a bit of an experiment - result, I think :-) !!
