Natural decay

After blipping the descent into ruin of the St Catherine’s Hotel yesterday, I was clearly thinking about decay today when I noticed the bark on a small birch up near my study (where I had been working on constituency emails for several hours - the pleasures of a day of recess !)

There is a tiny bit of green moss growing on it but the wood is weathering away , though in a beautiful and natural process.

Sometimes small things are the most intriguing.
