The King - Oil Painting - 24" by 18"

Just started a new painting. It's part of the Africa series. It took me quite awhile to gear up to painting images from my trip to Africa. Now I'm there and am already having fun painting. I started this painting today. I got the design figured, painted the canvas with gold and red gesso, drew and corrected the drawing and have painted the passages of light and dark. I'm in the middle now, the longest part of the process of painting. It's time to put some paint on the canvas. In the end I'll add flourishes and hopefully a wow factor. Already I like this fellow.
