Finding the Trail

H is starting to chainsaw small trees on the property that got so devastated in the Dec 20 storm.   Not the big stuff…. we need help with that.  (will get some in march)  We had to walk/climb over/scramble  around to try to find and mark our old trail.  It was a narrow swath from the wind (less than 50 ft wide) but oh so many trees and branches piled up.  I had my yaktrax on as I wanted to see how the top of the island looked.  The road up there is pristine..no one has been there.  Extra is the view…Only H and my tracks, and a few animals..  the labyrinth is buried.   But it’s mostly melted on the bottom.  We’re happy and warm…. and had a lovely coffee chat with friend C who was here with stories from the whole storm…we talked about how “rural” this really is…  No one could have walked here in the deep snow, which is why we didn’t have a clue what to expect.    If there was some emergency, we’d have to call the coast guard boat to the dock.   But that’s the risk we all agree to, for a bit of paradise!
