A Kitesurfer riding the waves in very windy conditions at Tahunanui Beach, Nelson, NZ.

We stopped for a walk along this beach on our way home from Nelson late this afternoon. We spent an enjoyable time watching these skilled sportsmen playing with the wind and keeping remarkable balance as the speed through the water of the out-going tide.

Super Moon
A huge thank you for your response to my blip of last night’s super moon. I was thrilled to see it sitting on the first of the popular pages when I woke this morning. It will take me some time to thank you individually for the many hearts - in the meantime, please accept my grateful thanks.

- Evacuees from Teapot Valley, Eves Valley and Redwood Valley are the recipients of promising news. 
- The Civil Defence Controller Alec Louverdis said planning was continuing for the conditional re-entry tomorrow morning, provided the conditions were safe. That would enable the remaining 84 evacuated households to return home, and to come and go without restriction, provided they are ready to evacuate again at short notice.
