The Lozarithm Lens

Staverton (Thursday 28th February 2019)

I knew Thursday was not going to be as fine a day as Wednesday but I was unprepared for the dramatic downturn. Having set off early I reached The Courts NT before they had opened for the day so with nearly an hour to kill I drove on and ended up in Staverton, on the outskirts of Trowbridge. I was hoping it would clear up but by the time I got there, rain had set in and didn't let up.
I parked in a derelict pub car park and joined the canal towpath which took me to Hilperton Marina. I'd visited the area a few times before, but not since 2016. It's one of the few marinas in the area that allows public access and I had a good walk around photographing the narrowboats. This was the obvious choice, both because of its name, and the presence of a mallard duck. I've seen Smokey or Mo-kei several times before and have certainly photographed it too but searching my tags only brings up thousands of pictures of a cat.
The rain didn't let up and I returned home leaving The Courts for another day.
In other news, the real Smokey killed a greenfinch today. Bad cat.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Harry Nilsson - Gotta Get Up (1971)
Harry Nilsson (vocals, piano), Klaus Voormann (bass), Jim Gordon (membranophone), Chris Spedding (guitar), Richard Perry (percussion), Henry Krein (accordion), Jim Price (trombone, trumpet)
This is featured throughout the enjoyable 2019 Netflix series Russian Doll. I watched the final two episodes on this evening. The song originally opened the album Nilsson Schmilsson and was the B-side of Without You, his hit version of the Badfinger song.
