Well That Went Well

After yesterday’s entertaining emergency trip to see Mrs Madwill’s mother in Darlington A&E, they finally decided to admit her and booked her a clinic appointment for this morning.

The problem was that there were no beds available in Darlington - and they had to hunt around other hospitals. We left her around 7:30 p.m, still unsure of where she would be going. We got home around 9 (having stopped for takeaway fish and chips in Wetherby).

By 10:30 they had found a bed....in a community hospital in Weardale, over 30 miles away. Ambulance transport was arranged.

So this morning we set off for Darlington at 8 a.m. (we managed to avoid the A1 closure at Wetherby) and waited for her to arrive at the clinic...by appointment time there was no sign of her, so we checked at reception and she was still in Weardale...no one had booked the return ambulance....

So they booked another appointment and transport (for Thursday) and we drove to see her (a 45 minute trip).

We left her at lunchtime and went to her house (another 45 minute drive) to meet Mrs madwill’s sister who had driven up from Bedford this morning and who will be going to hospital on Thursday with their mother....

I did stop briefly as we came over the North Pennines to photograph this little bridge and water cascade....as well as the scenery on the Weardale/Teesdale border (extra)

Dreadful drive home in torrential rain.

Ready for my delayed Shrove Tuesday pancakes this evening....
