Pictorial blethers

Dust thou art ...

I’m sure that form of words isn’t quite what we use these days, but that’s the way in which I always hear them. In my head, that is. Beautiful, economical, unforgettable.

The photo is of the cover of the service sheet for this evening’s Imposition of Ashes. It was a beautiful service, and left me feeling more integrated by the end than I had been. I always find it hard re-immersing myself in the church community when I’ve missed services, and it’s been over three weeks.

We emerged into the dark and the rain, and headed home to cook dinner. As we ate, we listened to Tallis’ Lamentations of Jeremiah sung by the Deller Consort. I’ve aspired to sing like Alfred Deller since my late teens, and the Tallis is one of the most wonderful pieces I’ve ever sung.

And now it’s late again, and I’m still behind with catching up on my Blipfoto friends. Mea culpa ...
