A day at the seaside!

Caught the bus down to Camara de Lobos this morning, for a wander around the town. It's a great way to travel, a bit exciting, there are often lots of rosary beads and holy pictures in the cab and you see the banana plants and the sugar cane close up as the bus almost touches them!  Wild flowers all along the road side, orange and yellow nasturtiums and bright blue morning glory, masses of them everywhere. Extra is the view from the bus stop near our hotel.

Very hot, we walked quite a way then sat, with our coffees and writing the last postcards, in a cool and shady café.  Cool not in a trendy way, and shady not in a dubious way!

A look at the harbour and the boats, folk out in canoes, cod hanging up to dry, men working on their boats, a chap delivering carrier bags of fresh limpets to a café and coach loads of tourists enjoying the sunshine. Interestingly, our coffees and our ice creams were both much more expensive than in Funchal. We have had a lot of coffee over the last couple of weeks, and it has cost from 80c to E2.20!

A laze by the pool with our books this afternoon. The black clouds were hanging around the top of the mountains, but thankfully it stayed dry and warm enough for a swim.

I see it is 2°C at home. Not sure how we are going to cope....!
