Hockenhull Platts

During the summer I often go down to Hockenhull Platts for my blip as I can just about guarantee that there will be birds and other wildlife to photograph. 

The location itself is very interesting as there are three old packhorse bridges dating back to Roman times. At least that is the widely held misconception although according to this piece of research it is a misconception.

While the current bridges probably reportedly date back to the 17th century this used to form part of the medieval route from London to Holyhead.

This is the middle bridge that crosses the River Gowy. The other two were needed because the area is so marshy.
