Landing the catch at Whitstable harbour

What a difference in the weather after several drab, dreary days. The sun came out, the skies were blue, breeze light and manure to be shifted at the allotment.

Many hands make light work and we soon emptied the trailer of its malodorous contents, carting it away to our respective compost bins or onto the beds.

So nice was the day we decided to go to Whitstable to enjoy the coast in the sun. And so did thousands of others. The area in and around the harbour was packed and other parts which are usually quieter we well populated. We park on the outskirts, walking along the seafront from Seasalter to Tankerton so we’re untroubled by traffic in the town.

On the way home we received a message from one of Doreen’s neighbours to say that her overflow was gushing water. Bang, back to earth with a bump. Fortunately, by the time we arrived the gush was a drip. Further inspection of the tank in the loft showed all was OK there. What caused it we don’t know.

Cooked a quick dinner for us all at Doreen’s as we were going to see the Phil Beer Band in Canterbury this evening. Writing up this journal entry in the interval. So far an excellent concert from a consummate musician and his talented band.

Today’s blip is of skate and lobster being landed at Whitstable harbour.
