Crane

.... a Black Crowned Crane (Balearica p. pavonina).

As it's been such a beautiful day I decided to go to the farm to see if they were getting any closer to opening, how preparations were going and if any new animals had been returned from there winter homes.
I knew I could always get a photo of the pelicans (over the fence and trespassing) if I needed a blip and I was pleasantly surprised to see a couple of cranes there sharing the waters with the different varieties of pelicans.
The farm, which as I have stated before, is a conservation area and is also for educational purposes. It also has a huge fishery (a very expensive place to fish, at £150 for a 24 hour licence).

They recently announced that prior to opening for the summer they are going to open the doors on a number of dates purely for photographers and allow them access to all the exotic and endangered animals and birds they have on site. I'm itching to get a good look around and for the dates to be published.

I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather and having a great start to the week.
Clive
