After the show ...

I snatched this as we trooped out of Stewart’s Melville this evening after the Junior School Spring concert. The ceiling through the window is that of the Tom Fleming Centre for Performing Arts - a rather splendid venue in the main school building. I wish I’d been further down the playing field - the floodlit figures in the dark would have looked quite dramatic.

A lovely evening; I’m biased, of course, because of my trombone-playing granddaughter who led out the band with immense composure and not a flicker to show that she’d seen us or her parents and sister as she passed. The teacher in me loves to see these children taking such a pride in their performance and in their school - and to hear their headmaster expressing his pride in them.

Took me back 60 years...
