The Walker

This sculpture on the Esplanade at Lynmouth is at the conjunction of three long distance walking trails.

It was designed and constructed by local craftsman Richard Graham, and is made from reinforced 8mm marine quality stainless steel wire.

On our final full day on the North Devon coast, we awoke to an obscured view of the hills and sea as the sea mist, or more appropriately- fog - had taken over. The temperature had also dropped and the hats and scarves were once again worn.

We had a relaxing day, pottering around the lanes and shops of Lynton; a walk down to Lynmouth and a visit to the Middleham memorial gardens by the East Lyn river. It was here that a hamlet once stood but tragically all ten cottages were swept away in the 1952 flood disaster.

We took the funicular water powered train back to Lynton (the extra was taken earlier this week when it was sunny).

Looking forward to a relaxing evening and dinner in a vegetarian friendly European restaurant.
