#unbrexitday1

To mark #unbrexitday1 (there will be more of these bad boys, probably, over the next wee while), no need for anything too poignant. Just another one in my collection of #anotherdayanotherlawfaculty.

This time Charles University, Prague. It's a university and a law faculty with a very long history, dating back to the 14th century. This building is a product of modernism, however, and was opened in 1931 (after a somewhat torrid history) during the first Czechoslovak republic. The creation of an independent state clearly gave new impetus to the study of law in the city - as did the end of the Cold War in 1989, the separation of the Czech Republic and Slovakia as of 1 January 1993, and then the accession of the Czech Republic to the EU, as part of the largest enlargement, on 1 May 2004.

I attended a really interesting conference, with some excellent papers and great contacts, mainly amongst colleagues working in central and eastern Europe.

Unfortunately, as the day went on, my nose started dripping, I started sneezing and the aches and pains in my feet and legs hit the highest point on the scale. I crawled back from the Faculty at the end of the day and refused to leave the hotel room again, despite Mr A's best efforts to persuade me to go and find some supper. We dined on chocolate and red wine which we'd bought the other day.,
