Pictorial blethers

Threshold of light

We drove home today, from the grey drizzle of the cold front that passed on its way south to this wonderful sky above the Firth of Clyde - a suitable sky to herald the imminent return to Summer Time, I felt. The hills of Arran are the colour of mist beyond Bute, and the air is full of the calling of Canada Geese who keep circling the hills behind me.

I'm glad it all looked so lovely at home, because I never like leaving the flat in Edinburgh with its associations of family and relaxation. Although we actually did quite a bit of to-ing and fro-ing, I always feel when we return to the house there that there is nothing to do but enjoy the peace and the inability to do anything that resembles work. But an evening like this - yes: we went for an early evening walk after the drive - makes me glad to be living here. And I'm grateful that the light evenings are scheduled to begin at least with some decent weather.

But now bed - because the night is short and we've got the Bishop coming tomorrow ...
