The good Life in Glen Lyon

Sir Walter Scott described   Glen Lyon as the “ longest, loneliest and loveliest glen in Scotland”.

Therefore when I heard that photographers Gill and Dave Hunt had just moved there we just had to visit them.

Aftera hair-raising drive over Ben Lawers into Glen Lyon – single-track road officially closed for winter, maximum speed 10mph, with a vertical drop into the loch, we arrived at Wildgrass Studios, formerly the Glen Lyon gallery.

Gill and Dave gave up their lucrative jobs with Granada television in 1999 and moved to Scotland, near Killin, to launch second careers as photographers.

I assumed they were moving closer to civilization. Far from it. They are now deep in a remote glen in the Scottish Highlands.
And they love their new life.

Many artists in Scotland know them as the founder members of Perthshire Open Studios, and they are still active members of it. I first met them over ten years ago when they were a great
source of help and support when we launched Forth Valley Open Studios.
